SETTING
The world that Turnout takes place in is post apocalyptic America, specifically in sunny California. The year is 2XXX, and the sense that you get by looking around is that the zombie apocalypse didn’t start yesterday…. it started years ago.
Most buildings are abandoned and run down, and surviving encampments of people are few and far between. Those that do exist are established and highly cautious, not to mention very unlikely to open their doors to outsiders. Infrastructure like bridges, stairs, and roads are all in varying states of disrepair, with abandoned cars blocking many of the freeways. Electricity is not widely generated, so the world depends on that which is battery powered or is physically close to a portable generator.

Characters will be traveling from Southern California (Los Angeles) to Northern California (San Francisco), and will encounter a variety of climates and environments. However, generally, since it’s summer and they’re in the desert, it’s going to be hot. Hope you find sunscreen!
As for the zombies, the undead run rampant, concentrated in large cities. In less populated areas, stragglers and smaller packs of zombies are more common rather than overwhelming hordes – less overtly threatening, perhaps, but easier for you to be taken by surprise by. The infection is not exclusive to humans, and has infected larger wildlife as well (like dogs, cats, horses, etc.) That isn’t to say everyone and everything is infected! But be cautious about what good boys you pet on the side of the road.
