WEEK THREE

!
through the desert

The next leg of your trip, after stocking up on supplies, is a trek inland through a very dry, arid desert. It’s hot. Very hot. Hopefully you scavenged some sunscreen while at the mall, or else a few of you are going to be getting sunburned during these long hikes. And hopefully, there’s people in the camp amenable to sharing water…

If not, there are some cacti growing in the desert that contain water in them, but consuming this water induces extreme dizziness, which may necessitate you being carried until the effect wears off. At least it'll quench ya!

Eventually, the group will come across an oasis. The body of water is small, clear, and cool, hidden away under the shade of some rock formations. It’s a perfect little spot to take a break and stop for a drink, or maybe even a swim to wash some of the sweat and grime off!

Or, it would be if not for the other camps surrounding it.

There are a number of pitched tents and supplies left around the watering hole, clearly left by people who have been here recently. Most of the items inside the camps show signs of long-term use, and there is even some fresh produce to be found among their things. Also among their bags are a number of personal items, like toys and pictures of families from before the apocalypse.

It doesn’t look like anyone’s around… so, there’s a unique chance to make off with some of their stuff, if you’re quick about it. Or, perhaps doing so goes too against your morals? Are you going to stop your fellow party members from stealing?

After a bit of time, you’ll face consequences regardless: a group of five teenagers will fire rounds of shots at the survival party, even if no one has stolen anything. You’re close by their camp, which has spooked them into firing without thinking.

In the chaos, Suzuha Amane and Ninety-Nine are hit directly with bullets.

The rowdy teens are up on higher ground in the rock formation when they do this, a short distance away from the majority of the party. Seeming scared of what they’ve done, they immediately turn tail and start trying to escape.

Characters can pursue and even kill these other survivors, but their focus will be on running away, not fighting back.

If they are captured or killed, their guns and several items good for surviving in the desert can be looted from them: rope, canteens of fresh water, hats, and rags, for example.

the WILDEST ride in the WILDERNESS
Once the issue with the camps have been dealt with, and the wounded have hopefully been treated, if characters stay on schedule, their next stop is an old historical town. It’s a town that has been preserved in its “wild west” state, sporting saloons, general stores, and old-style inns. Everything is dusty, and the moonshine here is so old and so sour that one sip of it will turn you sick.

There are not many zombies here, but the ones that are happen to be hidden away inside the old buildings, and not roaming about in open view. Most of them are laying complete dormant, and will only spring back up into action upon hearing noise. Hopefully your reaction time is fast!

Around the town, there are a number of old firearms to be found. Shotguns, rifles, and revolvers, for example, which may help with bolstering the party's ranged defenses. While they've definitely been left here for a while and will need some maintenance, with a little TLC, they'll be back up in working condition. There's considerable extra ammo to be looted from the town's fake general store (more than the party would be able to carry), as well as tons of jars, bottles, and cans laying around. Maybe it's time for target practice, and a little training sesh?

This week, Kotoha Isone is infected.
